Few artists embody the rise of American techno quite like Sam Wolfe. Atlanta native, a city better known for its hip-hop legacy than four-on-the-floor intensity, Sam has become a driving force in reshaping its musical identity. From local residencies that built his reputation as a charismatic performer to a discography stacked with Beatport Top 10s and releases on powerhouse labels like 1605, Filth On Acid, Tronic, and Experts Only, Sam’s sound walks the line between raw power and emotional depth. With over 24 million streams and global support from names like Adam Beyer, Solomun, John Summit, and Swedish House Mafia, his music speaks to both warehouse purists and mainstage crowds alike. Now, with his latest release on Heldeep Records freshly out, Sam Wolfe stands firmly at the forefront of techno’s next evolution. Proof that authenticity and connection still reign supreme on the dance floor.

We had the opportunity to catch up with Sam shortly after the release to talk about the creative process behind his new track ‘Swipe Right’, what it means to join the Heldeep family, and how he continues to push American techno forward. In our conversation, he opens up about his studio workflow, the energy behind the release, and the importance of community within the EDM scene.

What inspired the vibe or concept of this particular track?

The Techno Scene is changing, and I have been finding club records with a tech house groove, mixed with my signature techno aggression to be working best. The vocal gets the energy going, and the synths have that bite that I love so much.

When you started working on this track, did you already have a sound in mind, or did it evolve naturally in the studio?

All my tracks always kind of evolve over time, I usually start throwing things against the wall, but the most important part is knowing when you can do better, and not being afraid to delete what you have already done in order to make room for a stronger idea overall. I think that is the biggest thing that takes time as a producer to learn to do, so the original demo sounded nothing like this final version.

How did your connection with Heldeep and Oliver Heldens come about?

I actually first spoke with Oliver 14 years ago, when I was in college and he was just getting started. I was a campus rep for the music blog "this song slaps" and he saw that and messaged me on facebook and would send me some early unreleased promo's. I knew at the time his big room sound was going to go far for him. Then fast forward 9 years later I started producing myself, and put my first tracks out right at the same time he launched HI-LO, his techno alias. Fast forward and we got on a few similar lineups, Seismic Dance event, & I had direct support duties for a show in Atlanta. We stayed in touch and then I sent him a few records he likes, including my next release December 5th on HILOMATIK, called the party. Oliver is a really solid dude, and genuinely cares about the music first, which is cool. We vibe well and he is a good dude.

What’s it like working with such a respected label in the electronic scene?

It's nice because they are very on the ball, and very on point and take their work seriously. This is nice to find.

How do you see your sound evolving as we head into 2026?

I think it's a continuous evolution of what I like and what also the people want, which is what is working for me on the dance floor. Hard hitting tracks, but one's that you can listen to in the car or outside the club. Signature Sam Wolfe style, with my bite and aggression, but still fun and enjoyable to listen to.

Are there any upcoming collaborations, remixes, or shows you’re particularly excited about?

I am playing a big 3 hour b2b with Charles D in Toronto November 28th, and my next release The Party on HILOMATIK will be a good one.

What’s one message or feeling you want fans to take away from this release?

For those that have been with me since the beginning, I hope you enjoy the evolution of my sound and all of the hard work I've put into crafting it. And for those just hearing my music for the first time, welcome, and come hangout at a show sometime (that is always the most fun part).

Favorite Heldeep release of all time?

I used to listen to Renegade Mastah back from 2015 all the time, that was a classic, and really fresh sounding for the time.

Got to be Solomun or Eric Prydz.

How important is the role of the communities for the scene?

The Scene is a community, without the EDM community, there is no scene. There is no tech house or techno scene without the Community as a whole. The community is the reason I can travel (as a fan) halfway across the world, and go to a festival like Untold in Romania, completely alone, and meet some of the best people and just vibe out (that is a true story from 2018). So to answer your question, extremely important.
